Tourism Strategy for the State of Brandenburg, Germany
Client:
Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (Brandenburg State)
Brief project description:
In Brandenburg, tourism has seen a dynamic development and became a stable economic factor. Tourism is a highly labour-intensive industry and is the main employer in many regions of Brandenburg.
Furthermore, places where tourism is already developed offer a significantly higher quality of life for the local population. The importance of tourism in structural policy, especially in an area with a low population density like Brandenburg, will continue to increase significantly due to the demographic change.
Kohl > Partner was assigned to develop the new tourism strategy for Brandenburg in order to introduce tourism development mechanisms and tools that are not only new in terms of content, but also in terms of structure. The aim is to further develop tourism as a promising future industry and to emphasise and expand its structural and political importance.
For this project, Kohl > Partner collaborated with the company tourismusdesign and the Alpine Research Institute.
Key elements of the project:
- Analysis of tourism development in Brandenburg and the current state of the tourism industry
- Identification of the economic effects of tourism and its significance for structural policy
- Development of a guiding vision for tourism as a promising industry for the state's structural and economic policy
- Formulation of strategic recommendations and concrete measures
- Development of an evaluation model for permanent monitoring
