Product Development and Experience Design for the Theme Trail 'Lechweg', Austria

Client:
Ausserfern Regional Development

Brief project description:

This 125 km trail follows the course of the Lech river from its source in Lech am Arlberg to its confluence with the Danube near Füssen. The trail runs through the Lech and Warth am Arlberg adventure areas, the Lechtal region, Reutte, and finally Bavaria. In cooperation with the Swiss company Erlebnisplan, a special geographic and narrative guidance system with 'emotional cartography' was developed for the target group of passionate hikers aged over 35.

The individual locations, sights, historical facts and landscape features were defined through cross-border collaboration and workshops. This matrix of well-being forms the basis of an 'emotional hiking map'. Guests can experience what the map has to offer on a multi-day hike.

Therefore, the development of the Lechweg offer should also be considered an identity-creating process for the region, shaping the product that guests experience.
Additionally, the groundwork was laid for product management, covering requirements, organisational structure, budget and financing, and an implementation plan for a future product manager.

Key elements of the project:
