Development Strategy for the Tourism Attraction 'Salzachklamm', Austria
Client:
Salzburg AG
Brief project description:
The Austrian energy company Verbund is spearheading the energy transition and attempting to optimise individual power plants along rivers in Austria. Despite comprehensive regulations, it is challenging to get the regional population to accept these in times like these. Alongside legal impact assessments, a tourism perspective is often required, as well as a parallel concept that includes attractions for locals and visitors, such as exhibits and adventure trails.
One of those touristic development projects is to revitalize the gorge 'Salzachklamm' in Salzburg Province. The focus was on further developing the adjacent natural area for leisure tourism, as well as upgrading the outdated facilities in the gorge.
Key elements of the project:
- Generating ideas to make natural areas more attractive for visitors
- Visualising potential attractions
- Moderating discussions between Verbund and the local community
